Hey, it’s us!

The Mangamaire Sunflower Field was an idea hatched out of nowhere. Abbe has lots of random ideas and this one she just kept coming back to. But our recent feature on Country Calendar probably best describes why we first decided to give it a crack! Or keep reading below…

Country Calendar 2023 TVNZ

Living on a busy road, and often crossing stock over the road, she noticed rarely did anyone adhere to the 70km/hr speed limit or stop (heck even slow down!) at the intermittently used railway crossing - so, of course, she would have to be creative in how she slowed everyone down. This coupled with the lack of urban families getting to have many on-farm experiences now she set about bringing the Sunflower Field to life, with a few of her own wild farm kids in tow.

Early mornings and late evenings, hand sowing, hand weeding, and then hand picking meant over 4000 people were warmly welcomed onto their farm over 12 days in early 2022, by their 2023 season, with a Field over twice the original size they had over 6000 visitors in a slightly longer 28 day season. All to view the incredible live exhibition that the Mangamaire Sunflower Field is. Photos were taken, ice creams were eaten, and Luxury Picnics and engagements were to be had!

With two seasons under their belt, Abbe, her partner Emile, and their great team have huge plans for the next 2024 season. But as always they are on the lookout for the next opportunity to scale their farming business. So if you see yourself as the next Sunflower family and Mangamaire sounds like a cool spot, please get in touch to talk over options to purchase the Mangamaire Sunflower Field and/or adjoining 50ha.

Stick around and we will see you in the field in 2024!
